Gunther/Death Be Not Proud

Abstract: A 3 page book review of John Gunther's memoir of his son's illness and death. The title of this book is drawn from John Donne's Meditation 10, which is a famous seventeenth century poem that pictures death as unworthy of either awe or terror. This theme fits perfectly with Gunther's account of his son, Johnny, who faced death with courage, fortitude and a powerful will to live that enabled him extract both joy and purpose from his final year of life.
