Alfred the Great/His views of education

Abstract: A 20 page research paper that examines the reign of Alfred the Great, the ninth century British ruler, from the standpoint of his reforms for education as expressed in the preface he wrote for his translation of Pope Gregory's 'Pastoral Care.' In eleven centuries of English royalty, there has been only one ruler who was termed 'the Great.' This paper demonstrates why this title is justly deserved. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
