Abstract: A 11 page paper providing an overview of the commercial banking industry. The paper contains a history section, as well as a description of the evolution of banking and legislative regulation beginning in 1850. The face of banking is changing more than at any other time as banks seek to use the Internet to their best advantage. At the same time, they are seeking other originators of revenue and to date have begun to sell life insurance in significant amounts. Bibliography lists 16 sources.
