Cocaine

Abstract: This 5 page report discusses cocaine and the effects it has had on modern society as well as on individuals. One has to wonder how such a dangerous and reprehensible substance became so popular. There is apparently only one answer -- it physically delights the human being. Unfortunately, aside from the price it exacts from people in the havoc it wreaks, it also creates an out-of-control craving, a mindless compulsion, an irrepressible urge. There are an estimated 4 million chronic drug users in America and 3.6 million are chronic cocaine users (primarily crack cocaine). Bibliography lists 7 sources.
